Psychometric assessments at MindShift Psychotherapy® are an important part of understanding you as an individual. It is important to know how you experience you and the environment you live in. There is a common set up assessments that are administered during the initial stage of treatment. They include Psychophysiological, Cognitive, Personality, Mood, and Psychosocial.

For people who have a need for an independent neurophysiological and/or psychological evaluation that can also be provided here at MindShift Psychotherapy.

Psychophysiological

Psychophysiological assessments are objective measures of your central and peripheral nervous system resiliency to external and internal stressful stimulus. These assessments are:

  • Quantitative Electroencephalography – QEEG (a field concerned with the numerical analysis of electroencephalography data and associated behavioral correlates)

  • Stress assessment (peripheral nervous system activation and recovery responses)

  • Heart Rate Variability Resonance Frequency (measuring the optimal therapeutic breathing rate for activation of the parasympathetic nervous system)

 

Cognitive

 

Cognitive assessments are objective measures of how well an individual is thinking and processing information. Common assessments administered are:

  • CNS Vital Signs (broad spectrum of neurocognitive ability and norm referenced)

  • Iowa Gambling Task (a psychological task to simulate real-life decision making)

  • Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale (measure intelligence and cognitive ability in adults and older adolescents)

  • Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children (measure intelligence and cognitive ability in children and pre-adolescents)

  • Wechsler Memory Scale (is a neuropsychological test designed to measure different memory functions in a person

  • Wide Range Achievement Test (measures and monitors fundamental reading, spelling & math skills)

  • Test of Variables of Attention (objective measurements of attention and inhibitory control - used in ADHD tests)

  • Autism (variety of screens for this disorder in children - adult)

 

Personality & Behavior

 

Personality assessments are subjective measures of human personality constructs. Most personality assessment instruments are in fact introspective. Common assessments administered are:

  • Personality Assessment Inventory (assesses a respondent's personality and psychopathology in adolescents and adults)

  • Personality Inventory for Children (assesses the full range of emotional, behavioral, cognitive, and interpersonal issues n children)

  • OMNI Personality Inventory (assesses for normal and abnormal personality traits)

  • NEO Personality Inventory (examines a person's Big Five personality traits: openness to experience, conscientiousness, extraversion, agreeableness, and neuroticism)

  • Rorschach (examine a person's personality characteristics and emotional functioning)

  • Behavioral Assessment System for Children (understand the behaviors and emotions of children and adolescents)

Mood

 

Mood assessments are typically subjective measures of anxiety, anger, depression, vigor, friendliness, and confusion. Common assessments administered are:

  • Profile of Mood States (a psychological rating scale used to assess transient, distinct mood states)

  • State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (measures two types of anxiety – state anxiety, or anxiety about an event, and trait anxiety, or anxiety level as a personal characteristic)

  • Beck Depression Inventory (measuring the severity of depression)

  • Positive Negative Symptoms Inventory (measuring symptom severity of schizophrenia)

  • Mood Disorder Questionnaire (screen to identify patients most likely to have bipolar disorder)

 

Psychosocial


 

Psychosocial is a questionnaire, not an assessment, to subjectively reflect on an individual’s psychosocial experiences from childhood to adulthood. Common assessments administered are:

  • Extensive intake interview

  • Quickview Social History
